Well, it’s that time a year again. Our celebration and honoring Dr. King ushers in Black history and achievements for the 2015 season. Wouldn’t it be nice if we could continue to share the past and prepare the future generations all year around?

In other news, yahoo posted this list of congressional members who opposed honoring Dr. King’s with a day. Only three of the original members of Congress are still serving today.
A few facts I bet you didn’t know about the “I Have a Dream Speech”.
- The day before, King and his advisers met to discuss the speech in the lobby of the Willard Hotel because it would be harder to wiretap than a suite.
- King was up until 4 a.m. the night before working on the speech.
- The original draft was entitled “Normalcy – Never Again” and didn’t contain any references to King’s dreams.
- King put aside his prepared remarks and extemporaneously delved into the “dream” section of the speech after his friend Mahalia Jackson, a gospel singer, shouted out to him: “Tell ’em about the dream, Martin.”
In case you have never heard it, here is the original speech.
